Engineering Management Program

The College of Engineering and Applied Science and its National Advisory Board have been exploring opportunities to provide additional exposure to undergraduate engineering and computer science majors to business principles and experience.  This goal is supported by reports from several national professional organizations interested in engineering education.  Options that have been available have included accepting business courses as technical electives or adding a business minor.  Neither option is optimum in either providing the breadth needed or the amount of time to pursue.  In response to this interest the College of Engineering has designed a program that provides breadth and yet requires a minimum number of hours in a flexible weekend and evening seminar format to accommodate the schedules of the engineering and computer science students.  This program leads to the new Engineering Management Certificate.

Funding the Engineering Management Program

In order to provide the best start and ongoing support to this program the College of Engineering is seeking gifts that total $25K on an annual basis.  As the program matures it is the desire of the College to receive gifts to fund an endowment to support this program at this same level.  This endowment would require a gift (or multiple gifts in $50K increments that are matched by the state) totaling $250K which would be matched by the state to become $500K.
