Eli Krahenbuhl selected 2008 Tau Beta Pi Laureate.

UW Mechanical Engineering Student Selected 2008 Tau Beta Pi Laureate

June 30, 2008 -University of Wyoming’s Eli Krahenbuhl was recently selected as a 2008 Laureate of the Tau Beta Pi Association. A mechanical engineering student, he is one of 64 Laureates chose since 1982, and will accept the award at the 2008 Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society Convention in Sacramento, California in October.

Krahenbuhl was initiated in the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society in April 2007.  He remains an active member and tutor and often assists undergraduates in math, engineering, and science classes. In addition, he was a volunteer for the state Math Counts competition at UW last year.

Dedicated to academics, professional cycling, and his work, Krahenbuhl has found a balance between studying and his passion of competitive cycling.  He has maintained a 4.0 GPA at UW while working at a local composite materials analysis firm, Firehole Technologies.  A member of the UW cycling team, he has raced all over the U.S. and Canada and participated in over 25 races, his recent in Whistler, B.C. resulting in a sixth place finish. He is currently ranked 3rd out of 112 professional mountain bikers in the U.S., according to USA Cycling.  With this experience, he will help lead the UW Cycling Team into the 2008 mountain biking season.

Krahenbuhl  is from Cheyenne, Wyoming  where his parents, Richard and Betsy Krahenbuhl  still reside.  Upon graduation he plans to continue his professional cycling career and possibly pursue a master’s degree.  Although he is unsure of the career path he would like to take, he hopes to find a job performing research and development in the cycling industry suits his current interests.
