Samuel D. Hakes Outstanding Graduate Research and Teaching Award

July 13. 2009 -Suresh Muknahallipatna joined the UW faculty in 1997. He was previously a post-doc in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UW. He has been a university professor for the past 12years and has mentored 20 graduate students. Suresh received a Bachelor of Engineering (1988) in electrical engineering from the Bangalore University, India, a Master of Engineering (1991) in electrical engineering from the Bangalore University and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering (1995) from the University of Wyoming. Current research interests are in storage area, nano-satellite and mobile ad-hoc networks. He is a senior IEEE member. In Spring 2003, the College of Engineering and Applied Science renamed the Outstanding Graduate Research/Teaching Award the Sam D. Hakes Outstanding Graduate Research and Teaching Award in honor of Sam Hakes, Dean of the College, 1972—1996.

This award, originated by Sam, is given to a College faculty member each year to recognize meritorious accomplishments in graduate research and teaching. The Sam D. Hakes Outstanding Graduate Research and Teaching Award recognizes the outstanding efforts of College faculty and celebrates Sam’s many achievements and dedication to graduate education in the College of Engineering and Applied Science.
